Stop Calling Singleness Your "Waiting Season"

Sister, stop calling singleness your "waiting season." It's not a season of waiting. It's a state in which there is much work to be done!

Singleness is not a time to sit in the castle idly until Prince Charming comes. It's a time to be out in the fields and villages, getting things done for the glory of God.

As hard as this pill is to swallow, you are not promised a husband. How can you "wait" for something that you aren't even promised? What you are promised, however, is that you will give account of your life to God. You will answer to Him for how you spent your singleness. You are also promised rewards if you spend your time doing things that will matter in eternity!

This should cause you to have a sense of urgency about your singleness. Christ is returning soon. We have limited time to lay up treasure in heaven.

Very soon, those that have spouses will be as those that had none. Soon, it won't matter whether you were married or single, but whether you pleased the Lord with the life He gave you. "But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none;" 1 Corinthians 7:29

Let the imminence of Christ's return motivate you to serve the Lord with all your heart, right where you are. You've been given a special gift in singleness: freedom to be focused upon pleasing the Lord without the distraction that marriage brings. And you don't know how long you will have that gift! Get busy using it for the glory of God!
